 Arizona Route 66 Fun Run

This year, my youngest daughter, Ani, and I attended the Route 66 Fun Run at the beginning of May.  It was a 3 day event that started in Seligman, AZ and ended two days later in Topock, AZ on the shores of the Colorado River.  We had a real good time, and I got to spend 3 days with Ani as she now goes to school in Flagstaff, AZ.

Day 1 consisted of picking up registration in Seligman, a parade through town, and then DJ's at a couple of locations in town.  We hung out mostly at the Snow Cap Diner, walked up and down Route 66 a couple of times while there, and did the parade route.  Lots of folks, cars, and folks having a good time.  Some bozo in a Fox-body Mustang decided to do a long burnout at one of the turn arounds for the parade, and I heard later on he hit a curb.  Oh well.

On our way to Seligman from Williams, where I stayed for the first night, we stopped to switch drivers at a turnout on 66, and ended up talking to a couple of guys from The Netherlands.  They had rented a pair of Harleys and were traveling across the USA on a multi-month long vacation.  We saw them several times throughout the weekend.

We stayed for awhile and then I headed back to Williams and Ani went to Flagstaff.  She was having breakfast the next morning with of her college friends for his birthday, and then they were going to drop her off at Seligman afterward.

Here are the pictures from Day One:
